Today I was sharpening a pencil when I thought what am I wasting wood instead of using pen. Most Pens are made of plastic or at least a major part of them is made up of plastic. And now there is a third option is to use computers/tablets nowadays as that we save paper and wood and also not use plastic pens but then electricity itself comes from burning of coal etc. As an environment loving person I am always caught up into this dilemma. What I should stop using to curb the bad effect of human existence on earth and our own ecosystem. The answer to this question is much more simple than we think.
The question in itself that we should stop using something to make environment pollution free and to conserve water or any other resource by not using it is fundamentally wrong. The real answer to such a dilemma or problem is the optimum use.
We have to get this into our conscience that use is alright but misuse is where we have to stop. Here the common sense plays its role. It is again like money, you spend what you need but thinking that you have more so you can spend more is not correct here since the totality of the resources is limited and not like money which can just be printed in any number.
Water on Earth has a very varied distribution. You see a lot of water on earth but not all can be used personally. What we can use is very less and that too is widely spread. You will see many places where people use the same bucket of water for bathing first, then for washing clothes and finally utensils before it goes off. On the other hand in some places the clean drinkable water is also just wasted in flushing the toilets.
Here is what we need to understand stuff. If we use water what is required then many people will get what water they need. Conservation is only this sense of use of whatever resources we have as per the need. It is just not about stopping the use.
