No to Crackers, Yes to Life : Let’s Spread some Harmony this Diwali

Diwali is round the corner and everybody is extremely busy making preparation for the same. Like every year, people are going to burn lots of firecrackers this Diwali. This is one thing that people really enjoy. However, it is not at all a good practice to burn crackers since it is very harmful for humans, animals and the environment. The level of pollution created during Diwali is far more than the level that is produced in many days taking together. You ought to add the sound pollution created on this day along with air pollution.

In few words it can be said that there is nothing good associated with burning crackers. Thus, it must be banned but it is not possible until and unless you choose to stop its use. Make it a pledge to stop this practice and you would soon find people following your footsteps after they are made aware of its ill effects. There are so many nobler things to do this Diwali and you must indulge in one of them at least. Making people of other communities aware of your culture is also a great idea that you can do this festive season. Moreover, this would help in spreading the message of peace as well.

We live in a secular country where you would find people of various religions. Diwali is a great time to befriend them. Call your Muslim, Christian or Sikh friends over to your house and make them aware of your culture. This is going to be a great experience for them as well. This is also the best way to show that we are one and nobody can create any disturbance to the peaceful relationship that we share.

The children await this festival throughout the year and when you decide to stop the use of crackers, it is them who would be the most upset. Thus, you need to find a way to make them enjoy as much as they expect to do. It is not very difficult to uplift their spirits. You just need to think like a child to do it. Arranging for a song and dance competition, sit and draw competition, games, etc. are great ideas to make children happy. Call all the kids from neighborhood to participate in these competitions and games. Keep special prizes for the winners. They are really going to enjoy all these and would not miss burning crackers at all.

Thus, you can yourself see how easily you can celebrate a pollution free Diwali this year without curbing or compromising on your enjoyment.
